Yam Sam O

During our trip to Kolkata last year, we stayed at The Oberoi Grand and decided to try their restaurant Baan Thai. As an appetizer we ordered the Yam Sam O which is a Thai salad drenched in citrus served with Pomelo and cherry tomatoes. Hands down, this was one of the highlights at Baan Thai packed with flavour, a beautiful dish to start your meal. If you are up for fine dining in Kolkata swing by Baan Thai.

Aahelir Raj Bhoj – The Famous Indian Thali

Kolkata is a haven for delicious food, whether it is Bengali, Indian or International. However, if you are around the new market area, you will be spoilt for choices with the vast number of Bengali restaurants. However, if you are in the mood for a bit of peaceful Bengali fine dining, pop into Aaheli at the Peerless Inn for a feast. Today we bring to you a treasure chest of Bengali food, the non-vegetarian thali. As in the picture, it is an exotic spread for Bengali food connoisseurs with three non-vegetarian selections along with a variety of vegetarian ones. Among-st the non-vegetarian ones we selected:

  • Chamoki Chingri Malai (Prawn cooked in coconut gravy)
  • Shorshe Eilish (Smoked Hilsha cooked with mustard)
  • Kasha Mangsho (Mutton cooked in thick tomato onion gravy)

Since we are not big eaters, the two of us shared one thali however; you can order À la carte as well.
